Daily Trace

Install

Daily Trace has two halves. The extension watches your browsing and closes your tabs without losing them; the web app is where you read the result. You need both, and they take about five minutes to set up.

This is an invite-only beta while the extension is still being built, so the download is only available once you are signed in. Things will change. You can remove the extension at any time and your account goes with it whenever you ask.

1. Create your account

Start at dailytrace.vinnyminhas.com and sign up with an email and password, or with Google. Do this first — the extension asks you to sign in before it will do anything.

2. Add an AI provider

Do this before your first capture, or nothing will be written. A new account has no provider configured, and both the daily summary and the popup's tab grouping need one.

In the web app, open Settings and paste an API key for a provider you already use. The key is write-only — it is never shown back, even to you. If you would rather no AI company saw any of it, you can run your own Daily Trace server and point the extension at it, which is the only setup where a local model via Ollama works.

3. Install the extension

Checking your account…

If clicking the Firefox link downloads a file instead of offering to install, open about:addons, click the gear, and choose Install Add-on From File. Firefox for Android is not supported in this beta.

The beta does not update itself. When there's a new build we'll tell you, and you install it the same way over the top.

4. Sign in and capture

Click the Daily Trace icon in your toolbar, sign in, and press Capture & summarize. Your day appears in the web app. You can also turn on a daily capture in the extension's Options and never press it again.

What it sends

Three things, and nothing else:

The extension has no content scripts and never reads the contents of a page. Full detail in the privacy policy.

Removing it

Uninstall the extension like any other, and nothing further is sent. To delete your account and everything in it, email [email protected].

Something broken?

It is a beta and you are one of the first people using it, so please say so: [email protected].
